Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is again my honour to welcome you to the 10th ESSD congress, once more in Catalonia, with the difference that this year it is being held in the charming city of Girona. 100km north of Barcelona, Girona is a jewel of a city with strong historical, touristic and gastronomic attraction - plenty to do and see- and the top quality of life in Catalonia. You will find all sorts of information on the website, let me just recommend you take a day or two extra to enjoy it at your leisure.

This year we hold the 10th ESSD Congress, a milestone for our society, and the theme is Dysphagia in Rare Disorders, a new and important topic for our congress. There will be two parallel Precongress Courses: Paediatric dysphagia in rare disorders, functional and structural disorders; and Neurorehabilitation strategies for neurogenic dysphagia, state of the art. Accreditation courses on FEES, VFS, CSE and Manometry will be run at Mataró Hospital 6-7 October as well as a workshop on Management of dysphagia and eating difficulties of disabled children with cerebral palsy that will be held in a very special school.

This year the ESSD is also supporting the World Dysphagia Summit in Japan 11-13 September in addition to our annual congress in October. We are sure there is plenty of room for both events and that the lively educational and scientific forum created by the ESSD where delegates can learn the latest advances in our field and present their research on all aspects of dysphagia is an essential an essential event on the dysphagia calendar. .

See you in Girona!
